Chang Gung University is a top-tier research-oriented university in Taiwan, with national ranking 6^th and global ranking 450-500^th, according to Academic Ranking of World Universities. Clinical medicine, engineering, and biotechnology are the subjects recognized as 1% worldwide in ESI report.

The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering has 21 full-time faculty members with expertise in frontier materials, green processes, and biotechnology. The department has floor space of 8500 m², including central instrumental analysis labs equipped with state-of-the-art analytical facilities. The University has been active in conducting researches, group and individual projects, funded by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and Ministry of Education (MOE) of Taiwan.
